a few weeks ago, i was welcomed on board the team to shoot the latest garments created by lovita hilman, an upcoming designer from the raffles college. although i don't do much studio work, i was eager for this shoot and we had a great time dancing to laura's iphone, moving fans and laughing crazily. absolutely love these images, which have also been featured on undercoat.

free colour curve - american dream

due to the fiascos and happenings of last night, this free colour curve has been posted a day late but here is it everyone!

please do not rename, sell, repackage or redistribute these curves. i am doing this and trusting in people to respect intellectual property and copyright. thank you so much.

this colour curve adds a subtle warmth to your images with a dramatic use of contrast to give it a distinctive film-like feel, perfect for grainy grunge inspired images. the examples that i've used here have had noise added in digitally to give you an example of how it should look.

to really finish off the images, it is best to desaturate them if they are not in black and white as they have been done so in the example before (desaturated by - 40). as an option, you can also darken the edges of the image to really make it sit nicely.

please remember to credit me if these are used and, of course, share the final images with me! i would absolutely love to see them.

josh test shoot

not too long ago, say a few weeks, i had the pleasure of doing a test shoot with this handsome fellow. we met up on the day and he absolutely towered over me, and we laughed all day about my obsession with kpop and my resemblance to a friend of his. a quick shoot but a new friend.

catching up

at the moment, i'm feeling obligated to update everybody on the work that i've been up to. it's been a long time since i last posted because of my first semester at uni but it's a month into the break now and i'd had so much more work that i feel i must post! there's a lot of work still being done and a few magazine editorials that will be coming out soon so most of my new work isn't ready to be released yet but here's a quick update of the work i did during my first semester of uni (although none of it is related to my course). in my next post, i will talk more about the crazy life i've been leading the last month.

i was lucky enough to be asked to shoot jv selections new lookbook and had the chance to work with my stunning friend lisa ma again. rushing to location from my design lecture, we spend a good amount of time boiling under the sun and finding a stray kitten in the side street. this was during the time of sydney's record heat so props to lisa's professionalism, everyone's hard work and even martha's make up which refused to slip!

a mere days after the jv selections shoot, i worked again with caitlin on a lookbook with the beautiful nicole ainsworth who i've had the pleasure of watching bloom into a stunning and very talented model. this was my second lookbook shoot for go east art and we had the fun of spending our day in the arcade sneaking climbing their consoles (with permission, of course).

if there is one thing they really push at my design course, it is the idea of breaking boundaries - trying something new and not being afraid of your medium. i kept that in mind when i entered the ocean alongside daniella, who floated her skirt above the waves. we swam, and rolled in the sun, laughing at the splashes of the waves in our face.

there's something so interesting about graveyards where life from so many years ago now lie at rest, grass growing around them, whispers holding together a million untold stories. for my second collaboration with blackmilk clothing, we took to the side streets and graveyards of sydney so show the rebellious beauty of youth.

the beautiful thing about shooting between classes and in short breaks is that i'm able to take what i learnt in my lectures and put them to use. we push boundaries, we change, we challenge and we create.. and we will never stop creating. there are so many beautiful characters and stories out there to tell and, as a photographer, i won't stop until i've done that.

in my next post, i will update on some of my adventures in the past month (what i'm allowed to share for now) and will be posting some more free colour curves for people to use. don't forget to comment below and show me what beautiful things you've discovered lately too!
